Movies into books? Feature Friday

New? Follow on twitter, by email, or Facebook (or add to Google reader, etc.). Let me know if you do!

So I’ve written about movies that were better than the books they were based on, but what about books based on a movie? This week’s question from Alison Can Read and Parajunkee ponders just that. What movie would you like to see made into a book? I have a few:

  1. The Royal Tenebaums
  2. What Lies Beneath
  3. Moonrise Kingdom
  4. O Brother, Where Art Thou? (Loosely based on Homer’s Odyssey)
  5. Your Sister’s Sister

Any to add? Which movie would you choose? And, if I’d chosen a TV show, how awesome would it be to see Jericho as a novel?

I love that movie (it was in my Ryan Phillipe fan days!). It definitely seems like it could be a book (I always thought it might’ve been)…

I’m not a big movie-person, and I gotta admit.. I haven’t watched any of the movies you’ve mentioned, or at least don’t know their English titles. (So, maybe I watched them in German, but.. they always change the titles, and most of the times, it sounds ridiculous.)

Fun list! Jericho would make a cool book. And Moonrise Kingdom seems like a natural for a book adaptation.
    Have a great weekend!

Quite tricky to think of movies that aren’t based on books (well, the kind of movies I like anyway). I did LOVE Little Miss Sunshine starring Steve Carell, Toni Colette and Greg Kinnear although not sure the humour would translate. The other one is American Beauty – I loved this film and think if well written, it could be equally as dark and funny.
