Dear Santa, Define Naughty…: A Top Ten List

This week’s top ten list happens to coincide with Christmas Eve, so what better topic to explore than the books I wish to see under the tree tomorrow morning. And I will see them there, right Santa*? I haven’t been this angelic all year just for fun.

10. East of Denver by Gregory Hill

9. The Detour by Gerbrand Bakker

8. “‘Taint The Meat…It’s The Humanity!” by Jack Davis

7. The Return of the Native by Thomas Hardy

6. Pontypool Changes Everything by Tony Burgess.

5. Rogue Male by Geoffrey Household

4. Butcher’s Crossing by John Williams

3. The Encyclopedia of Early Earth by Isabel Greenberg

2. Love in a Cold Climate by Nancy Mitford

1. Hard Rain Falling by Don Carpenter

As you might be able to tell, I have a bit of a book crush of New York Review Books classics. Many of the covers are beautiful – I’m thinking particularly of The Autobiography of a Corpse, In Love, and Rogue Male – and worth owning just for the that, but all of the re-releases I’ve read have been wonderful.

*For your information, I made Santa Nutella-Stuffed Brown Butter + Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookies, it that doesn’t convince him to stop by, I don’t know what will. It remains to be seen whether there will actually be any left by the time he’s supposed to be here. Odds are against it.

New York Review Books classics series are fantastic: great selection of titles + looks stunning on one’s bookshelf. I’d love to read all of their Russian and Italian titles, lol 😀

They have SO many I’d love to read, it’s almost sad to know that I’ll never get a chance to read everything I want.

This past week Santa sent me an overindulgent husband and a friend bearing a B&N gift card, so I’ve already received my Christmas book presents! Yay! Hope you get them ALL!

I loveee the NYRB books, too. And actually brought my copy of The Encyclopedia of Early Earth on my trip with me so I could show a few people how pretty it was. Hope you get some of your wishes!

I got it for Christmas. My brother gave it to me. I’m not sure which I liked better, the book or the One Direction wrapping paper he wrapped it in…

(the answer is obviously the book…)

I’d like to read Hard Rain Falling and The Detour. I read about The Detour a few weeks ago and thought I’d have to get it soon! I saved your list and hope to check out the other books.

    • Rory

The Detour has been on my list for a year a think. It’s about time I get on that, but so much gets in the way (of course).

Yay for getting a few books from your list. Hope you will get the rest next year, maybe the list was a bit late this year 😉
